I have two other laptops (a new Samsung and another old Dell) connecting to the same router using wifi with no problem so it can't be the router. There could be several things going on in this kind of situation, either your computer has a problem or the router cannot connect to the Internet via your ISP. This is ALWAYS step one; get to the router WIRED and manage the configuration. Any other ideas?
