Now OS X can read and write to FAT32 formatted drives, but can only read NTFS volumes.

It works when connected to my other laptop, and I know the usb port isn't dead because it works when other devices such as my mouse are connected to it. Hence why I am adding this comment. Then I found your fix and I am so grateful at how easy the fix was. It's nice to know I am not the only one with this issue.

When you connect a HFS+ formatted drive to Windows, you'll get a message stating that the drive needs to be formatted in order to be used.
