There's no major manufacturers making any SSD "memory chip" external hard drives. on the 360's drive's boards there are resistor like fuses right after the power jack that blow out in this kind of situation.

The 2.5" only comes with a USB cable. I hooked one up to my desktop machine before I noticed I don't have a spare SATA cable handy. I use either system but if you feel uncomfortable using the connectors in a external USB box get the drop in unit and one can use it that way. Take the drive out of the case and put it in a new one. 2.5" USB 3.0 cases tend to run about $10 on Amazon, a 3.5" case may cost twice

There are many types of SATA to USB adapters for purchase. Is there anything i can do to salvage this or is all my data completely gone. wow you probably paid over a $100 for each one.do you have a separate lap top or computer in the house? and yes it's a bit expensive.

if the light is orange and not red then you have a problem the adapter is broken or incorrect power chord has been plugged in.
