Thanks!! I have been reading Microsoft topics for several hours now,list of fixes incl'd in XP SP3, etc., and am SERIOUSLY considering UNINSTALLING XP SP3 update. IE still doesn't like me, but behavior is different. when the temporary directory  is either gone (perils of RAMdrive) or it becomes read-only. Check This Out
