Imagine how bad our anti-virus/malware/phishing problems would be if it actually worked? I work for a graphics design agency, we and our customers want to have great looking signatures and newsletters. They are total idiots that don't every check their products before they roll them out so I'm not surprised by this. I was going crazy until you gave this solution...

If you use a later version of Word, visit our WordTips site focusing on the ribbon interface. They should also fix the Word rendering.In the meantime, before they fixed it, use table. Re-start Word. If the printer driver isn't working correctly, it can cause Word to hang.

Changed the default printer to PDF and the (I like the description) spinning wheel of death went away and typing became immediately responsive, I changed back to the printer and the I have tried to check off spell checking and a few other things but Word is still very slow.
