By the way, I did some experimenting, and I found out that if I copied the text, and repasted it as unformatted text, then copied the unformatted text and pasted it The text appears normal in full mode, but after I collapse it, it no longer shows the first part of the note and word wrapping is gone. Honestly, I'm not sure when it started. I think that when you paste the first time, the clipboard gets "solidified" into a graphic form and won't change back. Moving the mouse around a bit showed that as the mouse passed over the "Table Grid" option, Word tries to preview what would happen if you press that option button.
